Who can claim?
The one parent family tax can be claimed if you are a single mother or father and you have a child who is dependent on you and resides with you for at least one night in the year.
You can also receive this credit for an adult dependent in further education or training, and for incapacitated individuals.
You will not be able to claim the one parent family tax credit if:
- You qualify for the married person’s tax credit
- If you live together with another person as man and wife
How much can be claimed?
The one parent family tax credit is worth €1630 in 2006, €1760 in 2007, and €1830 in 2009 & 2010
